BURNABY LAKE NEWS - FLY
BY WIRE - Dec. 24. 2005.
,
Greetings Burnaby Lake Flyers,
Greetings Gang, here’s your Christmas E-Newsletter. On behalf
of the Executive I wish each and every one of you and your families
a very safe and healthy holiday season and all the best in 2006.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all…

In the NEWS…
If
you missed our Annual General Meeting on Dec. 15 man you missed
a great get together. 46 of our members showed up to participate
in the meeting and enjoy some pizza and Christmas cheer at the Burnaby
Lake Clubhouse at the foot of our field. Lots of really good stuff
was discussed, including the banner year had by us because of successes
at Fly-Ins and other events we held, hosted or participated in.
This club rocks!
At
the AGM we discussed field Safety yet again and the need to address
flyers that continually break the rules while flying. What’s decided
is that each of us is to remind members that you feel are flying
in a manner contrary to what you believe is safe or if their flying
makes you uncomfortable, tell them. Right then and there, don’t
let them get away with this type of flying behavior. Another item
that was brought up by John Mrazek is about flyers flying into (towards
the pilots on the flight line or the pit area) and landing towards
the flyers on the line is not permissible at any time. The energy
that is coming towards you is uncontrollable and if you ever had
a radio glitch or slipped up somehow the consequences could be disastrous,
not only for yourself and your plane, but for other club members
or visitors observing the flying activities. The need for using
common sense has never been more of a factor. The club feels that
rules don’t need to be written regarding this, however if the rules
we have aren’t followed you can bet that there will be repercussions
down the line, severe ones!
Other
issues we discussed had to do with the closing down of the Canadian
Electric Flight website at some point in the very near future and
the need for our own, club run and administered website. The members
felt that having our own site would be a very good idea. We decided
to look into costs etc. but in the meanwhile one of our new members
Dejan Stanisavljevic offered to host is on his own site with our
very own URL located at http://www.hoods-up.com
. The members all felt that this was a very generous offer and accepted
on the spot. By the time I’d woke up and turned on my computer the
following morning Dejan already had it working! The site has its
own Gallery for our photos, a Discussion Forum for club issues and
all the rest we already had on our original site at CEF. Dejan and
I are both looking for more member input as to what we should be
including on the site. For those wanting to contribute please contact
us at admin@hoods-up.com
or doug@alleflite.com . Other topics for future
items on the site include get this…a field camera to show what the
weather conditions at the field are like thanks in a large part
to members Peter Chin, Gerard Kho, Attila Regenyi and Dejan Stanisavljevic.
All we have to do now is wait for Burnaby
to run in the ADSL line which is already n the works!
New
business also included a discussion about float flying, field use
this summer and all the events that are currently planned and upcoming.
Following new business we took a break from the meeting to enjoy
our pizzas and a drink or two before getting down to the short strokes
of electing a new Executive for next year. No nominations were taken
from the floor for any positions. One nomination had been received
by the executive for the position of Vice President (Richard Mrazek).
Jordan Dobrikin volunteered for the position of Secretary. So this
year’s executive as elected is:
